Client Brief:
Our Solution:
We proposed external wall insulation for the rear elevation using 90mm mineral wool insulation boards. Mineral wool was chosen for its breathable properties, moisture resistance, and suitability for period homes. The insulation was finished with a textured, breathable render in a colour carefully matched to a nearby outbuilding.
Our team worked in coordination with other trades involved in the wider refurbishment to ensure seamless scheduling. We managed all compliance documentation and building control submissions, and we took care to detail around pipes and openings to protect the thermal envelope.
Outcome:
The rear room experienced a substantial increase in warmth, with indoor temperatures rising by an average of four degrees Celsius during winter. Damp and condensation were completely resolved, allowing the client to repurpose the room into a comfortable home office.
The new render finish enhanced the rear of the property while blending well with the existing exterior. The full installation was completed in just seven working days, with no disruption to the internal refurbishment timeline.
Client Feedback:
“The transformation is remarkable. That room was always cold and damp, but now it is dry, warm, and a pleasure to use. The finish looks great, and the team from HICL made everything straightforward. I would highly recommend them for external wall insulation in Richmond.”
