Project Overview:

Home Improvements & Construction Ltd (HICL) delivered a comprehensive transformation for Peter in Berrylands. The property had been split over time into two dwellings with two front doors, a former garage conversion and a side annex. Peter’s brief was to convert the house into a single-family home and create a generous open-plan kitchen, living, and dining space suitable for daily life and frequent entertaining.

Client Objectives:

Although the house offered five bedrooms and four reception rooms, the original kitchen felt only slightly larger than a galley and could not serve as the social hub the family wanted. The client sought a builder capable of a large-scale structural project who could translate a clear vision into practical design and build steps, add smart storage, including a pantry, and deliver a cohesive layout from front door to garden.

The Design and Build process:

After meeting Andi Drishti, director of HICL Builders, the client chose HICL for proven expertise and hands-on leadership. The team removed the entire rear of the house and extended it by three and a half metres, installing structural steel to create a bright, free-flowing space that connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Andi attended the site daily to coordinate trades and refine details. Spotting unused depth behind the ground-floor WC, he proposed forming a walk-in pantry. This simple intervention unlocked valuable storage and kept the main kitchen clean and uncluttered. The structure, services, and finishes were delivered with the calm, coordinated approach that HICL is known for.

Garage New Build:
Delighted with the main works, the client asked HICL to demolish two dated detached garages at the end of the garden and build a new, better integrated structure. HICL managed the project from quote to completion, delivering a smarter, more coherent outbuilding that matches the upgraded home.
